Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery on ABC special

It was an interesting and well-done piece, I’ll give them that much. The ABC Primetime special Celebrity Plastic Surgery: Gone Too Far that aired recently included three different celebrities who have all had a cosmetic surgery or more. They were Heidi Montag, Janice Dickinson and Pete Burns. These three cases are most definitely not the “norm” when it comes to the standard of Hollywood or any other place in the US. They are all three rather unique cases.

Plastic surgery is typically performed on very normal people that simply need it for medical reasons or they want to feel better about themselves. Cosmetic surgery for the most part is performed on people who will benefit from it in some form or fashion. That leads me to the two teenagers that were depicted on the show. One of them had a rhinoplasty and the other a breast augmentation. Breast augmentation or most any cosmetic surgery in teens is just something I am against unless there is a legitimate medical reason for the operation.

The show highlighted a few other examples of corrective plastic surgery as well from a well-known doctor that was on Dr. 90210′s first season. This section of the special showed that an epidemic of sorts is staring to take place due to the large number cosmetic surgeons that aren’t really cosmetic surgeons. One plastic surgeon stated that recently two out of three of her cosmetic surgery procedures were to repair unsatisfactory results from a previous plastic surgery procedure. The doctor went to state that she believe that the well-trained and real plastic surgeons are not doing enough to educate the public about the potential hazards of selecting a poorly trained or an unlicensed cosmetic surgeon.
