South Africans love cosmetic surgery

The country has been under a financial burden for some time now and it does not look to be letting up any time soon, but this has not stopped many South Africans from applying for new medical loans for cosmetic surgery procedures. In less than 2 years some long standing health companies have been receiving thousands of applications for numerous cosmetic surgery procedures.

One popular health company spokeswoman said, “Even though we have just survived a major recession and the economy of the entire world is struggling, we still have numerous people applying for payment assistance for plastic surgery procedures.” She went on to say, “These operations are not only for aesthetic reasons, many people are looking for fertility treatments also.”

These patients must first get a quote from their doctor for the plastic surgery procedure and then fill out the online form. These forms are evaluated by the companies and given a risk score before they are approved for the loans. If they are of low-risk, then they are offered a lower rate and vise-verse. If a client is approved, then the company pays for the cosmetic surgery procedure and the applicant pays them back in monthly installments. They offer better interest rates than banks, but these companies will not loan to just anyone however.

There are a number of males and many other groups that apply for the loans, but a majority of them are white females in their mid 30′s. Men seem to be focused mainly on facial reconstruction and liposuction, while women are spread across the board.

One lady interviewed told us that the recession didn’t even weigh into her decision to get a breast augmentation. Cosmetic surgery was a dream of hers and she was going to get it no matter the cost. She said she loves her new breast enlargement and it was the best gift she ever got for herself. She also tells us that she paid cash and would have never expected her husband or boyfriend to pay for them, because she wanted to do it for herself.
