Recovery After Vaginoplasty – PLEASE NOTE WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW VAGINOPLASTY PATIENTS
Vaginoplasty, also known as vaginal tightening or vaginal rejuvenation, tightens the vaginal canal and the vaginal muscles at the vaginal entrance.
The procedure involves removal of the posterior wall of the vaginal canal and tightening of the pelvic floor muscle which wrap around the vaginal opening. These are the same muscles that Kegel exercises attempt to strengthen. Muscle tightening is achieved by the approximation of these muscles which are then held together with sutures. To ensure that the repair is well healed, it is important that after the surgery you avoid the following for 6 weeks after surgery:
- listing heavy weights
- sitting on a bicycle seat or a horseback riding
- sexual intercourse
Following your surgery it is normal to have some spotting for 24-48 hrs. Sometimes the spotting can last longer. Active bleeding, especially bright red blood is not normal. If you experience a lot of bleeding, or bright red bleeding, call Dr. Jugenburg or go to your nearest emergency room.
